Let's Have A "Fireside Chat"

 Fonzworth Bentley jus released a single entitled "Fireside Chat." The song takes us through the civil rights era to where we are now and I'll say "briefly touches" on some issues in the black and hip hop society at this point in time. I think it's a powerful track that hip hop needs right now, but like many others prob won't even reach enough ears. Not sayin it should be bumped in a club or even played on a radio, but it's a track people should know about and at least come up in a barber shop discussion, but it probably won't. Coldest Winter

Kanye West has just released his new video for "Coldest Winter" off the 808's & Heartbreak album. The video's dark and has a kinda 300 feel to it in a way with the way it was filmed. At least from the animation feel in it, but overall is a very simple video that kinda draws you to it cause you wanna know what's coming next. It's def not your typical music video but with Kanye directed videos like Drake's "Best I Ever Had" and his own "Paranoid" video, Kanye def doesn't seem to do what would be considered typical videos. This one has that same dark feel as Paranoid but it's not directed by Kanye. I have to appreciate the art in this video. U be your own judge.

Jin made a mayb minute long "2010 Hip Hop Census Freestyle" and I gotta say he says somethings that are real about the state of Hip Hop. Check it and make your own opinion.

The Girls Say Something

Everybody has pretty much heard the track from Timbaland ft. Drake "Say Something." Well, it's def one of those songs that can be responded to from a female's point of view like the classic song "battles" ("No Scrubs" v. "No Pigeons", the whole Eamon "Fuck It" song, etc.) Well "Say Something" has now fallen into that category as Rasheeda and Nivea have teamed up for the "say Something Remix" and it's not all bad. Check it out.

The Pre Preface

I let you guys hear from NC up and coming artist Jones Andrews a lil while back and he's been continually grindin. After winning a showcase and gettin with a new music group Jones Andrews is about to release a new mixtape. Here's the "press release:"

"After a number of delays and life changing events Roanoke Rapids, NC hip hop artist Jones Andrews is finally releasing his Promo Mixtape for his upcoming EP “The PreFace” entitled “The PRE PreFace”. This mixtape only contains two features and both are from Winston Salem, NC emcee Young Say. The mixtape is composed of a few freestyles,  unreleased tracks, as well as some tracks that didn’t fit the direction of the PreFace.  The mixtape will be released on February 20th to coincide with Jones's show at“The Loft @ Union Square” in High Point, NC. The tape features production from Boonie Mayfield, Klive Kraven, I.D. Labs and GroundWork Productions. Look for “The PreFace EP” to drop in the upcoming months and it will be available for free download as well as purchase on itunes."

So I really wanted to make anutha video for this guy but I'm havin sum technical difficulties. Anyway, this is another rapper from North Carolina that goes by the name of Jeremy Gemz. This man even has the support of the late great DJ Roc Raida. Jus listen.

Put A Quater In The "Juke Box"

Kidz In The Hall have released the video for their new single "Juke Box" and it's kinda catchy if you ask me. The songs gotta a fun sound and the lyrics make u wanna lip sing to some girl you jus met in the club and see if you can't get a smile out of her and strike up a convo......or mayb that's just me. Anyway I think it'd be koo to hear this one in the club even though I probably never will in NC, but I guess we'll see. Check out the video for "Juke Box" below.

Away From Home?

Drake has announced his first North American tour entitled "The Away From Home Tour." Anutha interesting fact about the tour....it's gonna be eco-friendly. Yea, u read rite. I said eco-friendly. Drake has teamed with a non-profit environmental organization named Reverb to host the tour. To "green" the tour they're going to use biodiesel fuel in the tour bus and use biodegradable & recycled products on the tour bus and backstage. I wonder if he tickets will be printed on recycled paper? Anyway the tour will also feature Canadian rapper K-Os and New York City synth-pop band Francis & The Lights. Tour dates are below.
